Reviews can be helpful for other potential buyers and for companies being reviewed. But the quality of reviews can be all over the place. To help you leave quality reviews that might have impact on other potential buyers as well on the company being reviewed, here are six points to consider.
- Write enough to make your review meaningful for other potential customers and for the company you are reviewing. If it's too short and you leave out pertinent information, your review won't have as much impact.
- Be specific about the product or service you received. People reading reviews are more likely to discount generic reviews without details. It helps the people reading your review and the company you are reviewing if they know more specifically what your situation was with the company being reviewed. After all, if you're reviewing them, you want them to know what was done right and what could use improvement.
- For business-to-business reviews, you can mention things like the challenge you were facing or the problem you needed to address and how the company helped you in that regard. Other companies reading your review like to see if the company being reviewed works effectively in meeting your project needs or helping you fix problems.
- You can mention your location, either specific or as generic as the state you're in. People relate better when they literally know where you're coming from or when they share some geographic affinity with you. And they want to know if the company being reviewed can deal with companies that might be located elsewhere.
- If you're writing a review from a transaction a while back, be sure to mention that in the review. Again, if you want to your review to influence people, then be accurate.
- If you're leaving a negative review, constructive criticism is received better than ranting and raving.
